Newham’s Mayor, Councillors and its Council, should all be fighting together for better homes, better jobs, better health and job outcomes for all our residents.
We should be building more homes our residents can afford to live in, creating a borough that is safe and clean, promoting a vibrant local economy that harnesses the talent of our residents and creates more jobs that benefit the many, not the few.
We should all be out in the community, rolling up our sleeves to get things done, collaborating to bring people together, building trust and unity.
Give me the chance and I will be your Labour Mayor that builds on the progress we have made over the past decade in ways that benefit everyone.
I want our residents to have a real stake in our borough’s future, be at the heart of everything we do and deliver fairness during these tough times with a radical Labour agenda.
My priority is housing. Many of us can’t afford to buy or rent a home, face homelessness or need to leave Newham. My plans will offer our people genuinely affordable social rent homes; access to training and jobs and a safe, clean and healthy environment to live and raise their families in. I want our residents to have a real stake in our borough’s future, be at the heart of everything we do. It’s time for a fresh approach for people in Newham; time for Labour in Newham to show the difference we can make to people’s lives; and time to make Newham the best possible place for everyone to stay, succeed and thrive.
A proud democratic socialist and internationalist, I joined the Labour Party when I was 16. My passion for politics is driven by my desire to improve the lives for you, your family and everyone in our community. I will tirelessly campaign on your behalf as your Mayor of Newham to achieve this.
When Tory austerity is causing havoc, pushing more and more people into poverty, we need a strong campaigning Labour council in Newham with a Mayor fighting for you. Give me the chance to be that Mayor, working hard for all Newham residents, because it’s time for change and a fresh approach, that benefits all Newham’s people.
It’s time for our Labour Council to show the difference we can make in power.
It’s time to show our Labour radicalism once again. I want all our residents to have high quality, genuinely affordable social rent homes; access to training and job opportunities so that they can get on in life; and a safe, clean and healthy environment in which to live and raise their families. Most of all, I want our residents to have a real stake in our borough’s future by contributing to, and benefitting from, its growth.
Too many of our residents can’t afford to buy their own home, pay high rents or face homelessness. My radical plans for housing in Newham will change that.
Too many people in Newham still don’t have a job, or get paid less than they need to survive. My plans for business, skills and jobs will make Newham a beacon of community wealth building, where we use our purchasing power to keep wealth in our local economy, to change that.
I want our children and young people to know that we will support them, keep them safe, believe in their abilities to excel and contribute to the place they call home. My plans for early years’ intervention, education and youth services will demand that.
Too many people, especially our young people, are victims of crime and don’t feel safe. My policies for crime prevention and youth safety in the borough will change that.
I’m happy to meet with you to discuss these plans in detail and in turn hear about your hopes for Newham.
